Wild Wednesday

The reason I started Wild Wednesday was somewhat selfish.  I wanted to have an excuse to interview people and ask questions that most people don’t ask…like what’s your favorite meal, or what are your biggest dreams and aspirations?!  I love learning about people; how they spend their time, what inspires them, their interests, hobbies etc.    My Wild Wednesday features are my way of compiling this information about people I find interesting and then sharing their insights with you!

Today, the person I am featuring is someone that doesn’t fit my usual Wild Wednesday criteria.  Why?  Because I know pretty much everything there is to know about her…BUT I thought it would fun for you all to learn a little more about the other half of Wild Squirrel, aka my biz partner/roomie/best friend KEELEY ;-)  We are very used to answering questions that are centered around our company, so I thought it’d be fun to ask Keeley questions that we don’t usually get asked.

What is your favorite meal of the day and why?

My favorite meal of the day is breakfast, by far. I am the type who wakes up immediately hungry, plus I usually work out in the mornings, so by the time I get back from my run I am really ready for breakfast. Those first few bites are always awesome!

Plus, there are lots of options at breakfast — sweet or savory, cold or warm… and they are all delicious! Usually accompanied by coffee, of course :)

One of Keeley’s favorite breakfast…oatmeal!

What is something you do for yourself everyday?

Besides trying to get my morning run or yoga in first thing, I try to learn something new every day — read a magazine article, learn a new computer program, listen to NPR and catch up on current events. Because my ears and eyes are always open for new information I am always exercising my brain… and I have gotten really good at crosswords!

Keeley loves Terry Gross from NPR’s Fresh Air!

What is your favorite book and why?

This is a really hard question for me, but I have to answer predictably — nothing before or since has ever (or will ever) measure up to the amazing Harry Potter series. I could read those books one hundred times and never get tired of them!

Can you say Harry Potter fans?!  Keeley and I sporting Hermione and Dobby costumes for the movie premiere.

Keeley is always reading something!

If you could have lunch with any celebrity: actor/actress, athlete, singer, author etc., who would it be?

I’m usually not really into celebrities, but there are a few famous women who I would love to have a conversation with: Chrissie Wellington (4 Time Ironman champion, world-record holder and all around inspiring woman), Michelle Obama (First Lady and Health Advocate) and Anna Quindlen (Novelist and former NY Times Columist).

What would you ask him/her?

I don’t know if I’d have any specific questions, beyond just hearing more of their personal stories and goals. A lunch with all three of these women present would no doubt be a very inspiring conversation! I’d love to hear their individual wisdom and advice, since they are all women who have broken barriers.

If you had to perform at a talent show, what would your talent be?

I have very few “talent show” talents… I can’t dance, sing or do gymnastics. I can read really quickly, though, and fix broken computers/printers. (This would probably be a really boring talent show).

I just handed you a plane ticket to anywhere in the world.  Where do you go?

Right now I really want to visit Australia. It’s such an amazing country for hiking, surfing, swimming, and all manners of outdoor activities, which is my favorite part of traveling! Plus, our winter is their summer, so I’d probably head over there once it starts raining in Portland :)

If there is water in sight, Keeley will be in it!

What 5 essential travel items do you bring with you?

1) Travel Guide
2) Soap

3) Water bottle (my trusty Camelbak!)

4) Good pair of walking/hiking shoes

5) Swimsuit

You will never find Keeley without her Camelback water bottle!

If you had to go on one reality TV show, what would it be?

Amazing Race! With Erika, of course. We would dominate.

We’ve done Portland Great Urban Race…Amazing Race is up next!

Guilty pleasure?

I don’t believe in guilty pleasures. I love eating cake and watching reruns of Sex and the City, but I don’t feel bad about it, and neither should anyone else! All things proudly, but in moderation.

Keeley’s favorite cake!

What is something most people don’t know about you?

I need an incredible amount of sleep — at least 9 hours a night — and frequent naps. I’m really good at multi-tasking and working in hectic environments, but I’m also kind of like a computer with too many programs open: my battery life runs out pretty quickly and I need to recharge.

What are you most looking forward to in the next coming months?

I love fall — my birthday, crisp leaves, and wearing jeans and a sweatshirt! I like being a little chilly at night and bundling under the covers.

Favorite animal and why?

I love horses. I was totally an aspiring Saddle Club member as a little girl, and I never lost my love of horses. One day, I’ll live nearby a stable and ride horses again.

What is something that makes you laugh no matter what?!

Great Danes! They are hilarious dogs. I laugh every time I see one.

Borghi the Great Dane!  Coolest dog ever…

Also, taking funny photos of Erika… I swear her face is made of elastic. Every now and then she’ll pull a face I’ve never even seen before.

I hope you all enjoyed learning a little more about the wonderful Keeley!

Until next time!
